EPLAN has been making components and macros available to users in the EPLAN Data Portal since 2008. In recent years, however, the application possibilities of EPLAN have expanded and users require more component data in order to be able to design efficiently and error-free. EPLAN has introduced a standard to ensure that the components from different manufacturers do not differ too much with this amount of data. The EPLAN Data Standard EDS offers manufacturers a basis for the creation of articles for the EPLAN Data Portal. Users therefore know what data quality they can expect for an article.
Version 1.0 of the EDS places great emphasis on the 3D control cabinet layout. This is why, in addition to all the information you need to create a circuit diagram, you will also find dimensions, connection diagrams and 3D sketches of the components. You can also count on complete documentation in 2 languages, including data sheets. Data sets that meet this standard are marked by EPLAN with a logo so that they can be recognized in the EPLAN Data Portal.
By adhering to a standard, uniform evaluations such as article or parts lists can be generated, precise weight and climate calculations can be made and cable lengths can be determined more easily.
